Office Closed on Election Day

InKAS office will be closed on Wednesday, December 19th due to the presidential election holiday, and we will resume normal office hours starting Thursday.


InKAS Christmas Party

Hope you all can make it to our annual InKAS Christmas Party and End of Year Ceremony on December 21st!

Entrance to the party will be allowed ONLY for those who RSVP'd. Those who do not RSVP will not be able to get into the party, thank you for understanding.

Please RSVP to contact@inkas.org by the 18th. If you are bringing friends, let us know their names.

Please let us what you plan on attending: Information sessions, TESOL ceremony, dinner party

There are no fees for the Christmas Party dinner, entrance is free for those on the guestlist.



2013 InKAS Korean Language Scholarships for Spring Semester

InKAS provides Korean language scholarships to overseas Korean adoptees as an opportunity to learn the Korean language at a prestigious university in South Korea. In association with a grant from the Ministry for Health, Welfare and Family Affairs and the participating universities, scholarship grantees can study at any of these language institutes: Ewha Womans, Korea, Kyunghee, Seoul National, Sogang, Sookmyung Women’s and Yonsei University.

1. Required Documents and Terms

A. Documents

- One on-line application form (login to inkas.org, new members must sign up and pay annual member fee)

- One photocopy of adoption document with your Korean name and birthdate

- One photocopy of your passport with valid passport number

- One photocopy of your high school diploma or higher

- One photo (3x4cm)

B. Terms

- For students re-applying for a second semester, only an application form needs to be resubmitted, but some documents might be requested by InKAS or the university.

- If you have any problems or issues from previous semesters at the Korean language school, your application can be rejected or your acceptance may be cancelled by personal notification.

- An applicant must be at least 18 years old.

- Only fully-completed applications along with all the required documents will be accepted.

- Selections will be made entirely on a first-come first-served basis.

2. Application Deadline

- For Seoul National University : 24:00, December 24th (Korean time)

- For all other universities: 24:00, January 6th (Korean time)

5. Fee

- InKAS Application fee: 82,000KW (77.00 USD) : It's non-refundable. Please don't pay before receiving an official scholarship award e-mail.

- University registration fee: Different terms apply for each university.

- Tuition fee: 50% covered for 6 of the universities.

- Only 30% covered for Yonsei University.

** Please check the university websites for tuition pricing. All universities will confirm spring semester tuition rates on their websites by mid-January, 2013, so the prices may change slightly from winter semester rates.

** If you are a recipient of a scholarship for the 2013 spring semester, you will receive payment instructions and more information about this course by email.

Trip to Gyeongju!

InKAS
would like to invite overseas Korean adoptees currently living in Korea
to a program through the Gyeongbuk Provincial Office - a free trip to
Gyeongju from December 14th (starts late afternoon) to December 16th
(ends in afternoon).
Trip covers a two-night stay at Hyundai Hotel,
all meals, transportation by KTX from and back to Seoul Station as well
as during the tour, cultural performances, and all sightseeing tours
arranged.

Itinerary includes a night tour of Anapji, visit to
POSCO/Pohang, Miso II performance, and a tour of historical sights of
Gyeongju. Plenty of free time also! For a detailed itinerary or to

For Overseas Korean Adoptees

InKAS is hosting our annual winter trip for Korean adoptees currently living in Korea. 

We invite you to experience this great opportunity!

As more Korean adoptees return to live in Korea, finding employment has become an important issue.  Therefore, this year’s winter trip will focus on providing a variety of resources on career opportunities and starting up a business in Korea.  We hope this trip will provide valuable career resources and tips, as well as a way to make new connections with participants through various activities, including skiing/snowboarding and an indoor water park experience. 

Join us for an exciting time! 

Date: December 1st – 2nd 2012 (departure time TBD)

Location: Phoenix Resort in Pyeongchang (departure and return at Sinchon train station)

InKAS Winter Cultural Classes

InKAS will be offering 3 different cultural classes for Korean adoptees during the months of November and December! The class location will be in Yonhui-dong (near Hongdae Station) close to the InKAS guesthouse. All classes are free of charge, but small renting/textbook fees will be required.

Conversational Korean Language Class: Anyone can join this class, it will focus primarily on conversational speaking. Class will be taught by an accredited Korean instructor. Textbook will be used.

Course dates: November 5th - December 28th (no class 12/24)
Course fees: Textbook fee 30,000 won

Korean Traditional Paper Doll-Making Class: Learn how to make the traditional Korean dolls (닥종이 인형) as seen in the event picture. 
Course days: Tuesdays 4pm-6pm
Course dates: November 6th - December 18th
Course fees: Materials fee 30,000 won

Gayageum Class: Learn how to play the Gayageum (가야금), traditional Korean instrument similar to the zither, with 12 strings. 
Course days: Thursdays 4pm-6pm
Course dates: November 8th - December 20th
Course fees: Gayageum renting fee 30,000 won

Fall and Winter InKAS Event Dates!

Hello Everyone!

We have finalized our event dates for the remaining events this year, so please mark your calendars!!  As each event approaches, we will send out official event information, invitations, and schedule details.  This notice is only meant to notify you of each event's date, thanks for your interest!!

November 16th and 17th: Bukchon hanok experience camp - a 1 night, 2 day stay at the hanok village in Jongro district.

December 1st and 2nd: InKAS winter trip 1 night, 2 day stay at the Yongpyung Resort.  Will include informational seminars on various topics and skiing!

December 21st: InKAS Christmas Party - will also include informational seminars prior to the party in the afternoon.

Our online Korean language program is temporarily closed, we apologize for any inconvenience and will make an announcement once our program is fixed and running once again.
