All Korean Adoptees currently living in Korea are invited to attend our InKAS TESOL orientation. 

The TESOL course is offered through the University of California Riverside program for a 120 hours Certificate. 

the class location will be between Gangnam station Exit 10. Class days and hours are to be determined at the orientation according to attendees' schedules. Costs will also be discussed, but the course will be heavily discounte through InKAS.

Reflecting back on some of our 2012 InKAS events...

Celebrating the New Year by dressing in Korean traditional clothes and learning Korean customs!

Our InKAS Garden Party in May to celebrate Family month with our "InKAS Family" including the  Korean adoptee community, friends, family members both biological and adoptive, volunteers, and InKAS staff.  We also celebrated the publishing of Dutch adoptee, Yoo Ri Lee's book "For a Mother Far Away"

2012 GK Summer Camp!

Our summer camp "We Came Back" lasted from May 25th to June 2nd.  Forty overseas Korean adoptees and our InKAS summer camp staff traveled through Seoul, Busan, Yeosu Expo, Ulsan, and Jeonju by bus.  

We experienced both traditional and modern Korea, from sleeping in a traditional Korean style room called "hanok" and trying on hanbok (Korean traditional clothing), to relaxing on the beaches of Busan and great shopping!

This year was special because it was our first time having a summer camp staff mainly composed of Korean adoptees!

"2012 InKAS Korean Language Scholarships for Fall Semester"

Please notice that application for Seoul National University and Sogang University will be closed on June 26^th and for the other schools you can apply by July 10^th.

*This semester, full scholarships are provided by InKAS, except Yonsei University (only 80% covered).

(Please refer to the Fee section below) 

This is a great opportunity to learn Korean language at a prestigious University in South Korea. InKAS provides Korean language scholarships to overseas Korean adoptees. In association with a grant from the Ministry for Health, Welfare, and Family Affairs, scholarship grantees can study at any of these language Institutes: Ewha Womans, Korea, Kyunghee, Seoul National, Sogang, Sookmyung and Yonsei University. Any overseas Korean adoptee over the age of *18 can invest in a semester or more of studying Korean is qualified for the scholarships.

1.      Application – Required documents

1) Application form

2) One photocopy of adoption document with your Korean name

3) One photocopy of your passport with passport number

4) One photocopy of your high school graduation certificate

*In case you had any problems academically or in any other ways in your school in any previous semesters, your application can be rejected or your acceptance can be canceled.

5) One photo (3x4cm)

6) One page of self-introduction

* In case this is your second term, you could submit only the application and all other documents are not necessary, but sometimes needs to be sent by InKAS’s request.

* If you submit documents that are not qualified, the scholarship will be deprived at anytime.

2.      Application Dates

Starting from June 6th, first-come, first-served basis

*Only fully-completed applications along with all the required documents after June 6^th in Korean time will be accepted. Selections will be made entirely on a first-come, first-served basis.

Basically all classes at the universities run from 9a.m. to 1p.m. from Monday through Friday. *Unlike last semester, unfortunately, we can’t afford to grant scholarship for any evening classes due to reduced fund. However, even though you have to cover the whole tuition on your own, if you still want to attend an evening class, you yourself can apply for it directly at the school that you want to attend.

5.   Fee

1) Application fee to InKAS : $77 US dollar or 82,000won (You can make the payment through Paypal on the website or directly at the office)

** Do not pay your registration fee till you are sure of being recipient of this semester scholarship. Because It’s not refundable.

2)  Tuition fee is 100 % covered by InKAS Korean Language Scholarship. (excluding the  registration fee to a school)  In case this is your second term on the same university, you don’t need to pay the registration fee. 

* Yonsei University students need to pay 20% of the tuition fee (only 80% of tuition fee covered for Yonsei)

All notices related to any fees will be given individually after your being acceptance as a scholarship beneficiary. And you will get the results after the application period has ended by email.

There is an important notice about the submission organization.

No adoption agency including InKAS is no longer an submission organization for applying NIIED(GKS) scholarship .

※     As for detailed information on application deadline and submission of required documents, applicants should contact the APPROPRIATE KOREAN EMABASSY or CONSULATE in the country of applicant’s origin (or in the neighboring country), the 1^st selection organization.

※     Applications SHOULD be made through the 1^st selection organization. Applications DIRECTLY FROM AN APPLICANT or THROUGH FOREIGN EMBASSIES IN KOREA are NOT accepted. 

2012 InKAS Staff Workshop 

InKAS office works will be not offered as a normal office hour on 13th of January due to 2012 staff workshop for better service of 2012 InKAS.  

There will be a volunteer who will answer the phone and take a note for your requesting, but you will be able to get the answer by next Monday.
